Watershed -- Sanpoil River
Gold Lake is in Okanogan
County, about 14 miles north of Nespelem in the
Sanpoil River watershed. The lake is surrounded
by forested mountains. The predominant
vegetation is western larch, ponderosa pine,
spruce, and Douglas fir. The lake consists of
two basins. The western-most basin is 20 feet
deep and is connected to the larger, 45 foot
deep basin by a channel about 3 feet deep.
Chara globularis, Nuphar polysepalum
and Potamogeton gramineus were the
conspicuous macrophytes. Some Typha
sp. was present at the marshy west end of
the lake
The main tributary is an unnamed stream about a
half mile above the west end of the lake.
