North Twin is a freshwater dimictic lake
connected to South Twin Lake by a shallow ( 1-2
m deep), 457 m long, channel. The lake is
surrounded by forested slopes and agricultural
land. The drainage area is used for cattle
grazing. On the northern and eastern shores are
numerous cabins and a resort. North Twin
Lake has 5 tributaries ( Northeast Inlet,
Carson Creek, Northwest Inlet, Beaver Dam
Creek, Granite Creek). Principal drainage is
through Stranger Creek and Cornstalk Creek. The
lake supports abundant growths of aquatic
macrophytes.
North Twin Lake is a popular
fishery for tribal and non-tribal anglers. The
lake contains strong rainbow and brook trout
populations. Both populations are supplemented
each year with hatchery fish raised in the
Colville Tribal fish hatchery. The lake also
contains largemouth bass, golden shiners,
redside shiners, and bridgelip suckers. The
following link contains a summary of the
2003 North Twin Lake
